Not to Miss - 3 New Events !
Make sure you have
your diaries at hand, KCLFS is ready to announce 3 upcoming events and we
definitely want to see you there!
11th of
March: Guy Bourdin: Image Maker
Guy Bourdin is one
of the most famous fashion photographers of the 20th century and the
Embankment Galleries are currently showcasing his work. The vibe of the exhibit
completely encapsulates his chic ambiguity as you stroll through the different
rooms and see everything from the photographs that made history to his paintings
and even handwritten ideas. Not to miss: walk in to the projection room, stand
in the middle and get completely lost in his enigmatic fashion films.
The exhibition takes
place in the Embankment Galleries at Somerset House, right next door to King’s,
and it ends on the 15th of March so there’s no reason for you to
miss it!
Ticket price is
around £7-£9 but once we find out numbers, we’ll try work around group bookings
and see if we can bring down the price.
RSVP by eMail at kclfashionsoc@gmail.com by the 6th
of March. Once all is done, we will send out an eMail informing you about the
itinerary for the day. We’ll be going to one of the afternoon sessions.

18th of
March: Women Fashion Power
After indulging in
the dreamy Guy Bourdin exhibit, we then move to the pragmatic Women Fashion
Power at the Design Museum. This offers a timeline of how women in history have
used fashion to enhance their power and assert the gravité of their positions,
be it singers, actresses, CEOs, designers, journalists or Nobel Prize winners. In addition to the animated development of
power dressing that takes you through the museum, a number of contemporary
female icons have also contributed an outfit for display, along with their
personal style philosophy. The exhibition is bright, interactive and on point
and it will definitely complete your image of the two vague yet crucial words
in contemporary fashion: power dressing.
The Design Museum is
a futuristic, trendy setting and although it may seem far (located near Tower
Bridge), going together as a group will make you forget all about the dreaded
commute.
Tickets are £6.60
for students and once again, we will try to work with group bookings to bring
the price down.
RSVP by eMail at kclfashionsoc@gmail.com by the 15th
of March. We’ll be going to the afternoon session, which takes place at 14.00.
Once all is booked, we’ll eMail you the details.

25th of
March: The End of the Beginning
To round off the
year, we’re inviting you to join us for dinner. We’ll be going to
Sticks’n’Sushi in Covent Garden, a perfect place to indulge in great sushi and
chic conversation. Hear more about us, the fashion world, past broken promises
and big projects for next year. After the meal, the committee members will
potentially be going out and you can just join us on the night!
PS: we know sushi is
a love/hate food but don’t worry if you’re amongst those who can’t stand it,
the restaurant serves a combination of traditional sushi and yakitori sticks
from the grill. So for those less keen on fish, there is a selection of
chicken, pork, beef and vegetable skewers.
For the dinner RSVP
by eMail at kclfashionsoc@gmail.com
by the 20th of March. Once again, we’ll eMail you the details when
everything is booked.
