MY LITTLE DIARIES 2: SPECIAL CHRISTMAS

MY LITTLE DIARIES 2: SPECIAL CHRISTMAS
Eleonore-Thaïs Laurent

Where to see magic Christmas lights?
A massive deer in Covent garden, illuminations in Oxford Street, fairgrounds and amusement parks, skating rinks in Somerset House: everything is done in London to make you dream during Christmas. Even if temperatures are much cooler, whatever…The decor and atmosphere are so magical that we do not pay much attention to the rest.

You must have a look around Carnaby Street and Oxford Circus
Everything is made to spend a super night here, shops, christmas lights… So let’s enjoy the illuminations by Christmas shopping for the family.

Speaking of shops! The windows of Selfridges compete with their imagination and offer a real show each year. A good reason to start the Christmas shopping in the famous department store!
This year, each of the windows are dedicated to one sign of the zodiac. They all set against an illuminated backdrop of outer space and windows depict sign’s most recognisable characteristics.

Here is Cancer
This one in my favorite (because it’s my sign pshhit) it represent Pisces ;)
Try fairground, amusement parks and Ice skating in the middle of London!
Visiting the Christmas market, going to the Ice skating in Somerset House (yes it’s part of our uni ;) ) between two lectures make us forget that we are in London

Where to have a perfect drink?
Gordon’s Wine Bar is thought to be the oldest wine bar in London having been established in 1890. The bar is loved by old and young alike due to the totally unique atmosphere in which time seems to have stood still. As you enter the bar you find yourself in a room with old wooden walls covered in historical newspaper cuttings and memorabilia faded with age. Make your way to the cellar and you need to stoop to get to your rickety candlelit table – anonymity is guaranteed! If the sun is out you can also sit outside in Watergate Walk. The bar is loved by many because it has something to offer to each and every one of its customers. The award winning wine list is varied and full of interesting wines at very reasonable prices.

Prices: around 15 pounds
Advice: Don’t be claustrophobic! ;)
Address: 47 Villiers St, London WC2N 6NE
Tube Station: Embankment
