VERSUS VERSACE

With an all star FROW, including Gigi Hadid and boyfriend Zayn Malik supporting sister Bella Hadid who opened the show the Versus Versace show had a very rock-chick vibe featuring a lot of biker leather, ripped denim and metallic materials for its Spring/Summer 2017 collection.

Donatella Versace explained that ‘everything is a mix… nothing is 100%,’ in terms of the fabrics and materials used which explained the mesh of material used for each look.

Skinny pants and micro mini skirts were juxtaposed with oversized bombers and jackets creating the tough, urban collection for Versace’s sister line, Versus.

TOPSHOP UNIQUE

Set at Old Spitalfields Market and opened by Taylor Hill the Topshop Unique show transported us back into time rocking the mid 80’s New Romantic style .

Zebra print was the main print of the show with it coming up in an oversized bomber, silk shirts, pencil skirts, dresses, tshirts and shoes.

Alongside the zebra theme was the 80s vibes featuring turtle necks, waistcoat dresses, cigarette pants, once shoulder dresses and baggy trench coats.

A final trend in the show were the pops of Barbie pink that kept cropping up. This girly colour came in the form of a wool skirt, jumper and coat ensemble as well as shirt, tailored trousers and shoes.

JULIEN MACDONALD

Opened and closed by Hailey Baldwin the Julien Macdonald show was filled with daring evening wear.

Featuring sheer lace, chain mail and cut outs the collection showcased featured wild yet exquisite party wear.

Using a lot of  metallic silver, gold and bronze as well as a classic palette of black, white and navy in the form of dresses, jumpsuits and seperates the Julien Macdonald show featuring a lot of dazzling evening wear for the upcoming party season.

CHARLOTTE OLYMPIA

The Charlotte Olympia show was a celebration of the Brazilian carnival culture, fitting following the Rio Olympics.

Models were dressed up as fruit, as well as  carrying fruity accessories on the runway such as watermelon and pineapple bags (below). 

Models were wearing linen dresses and jumpsuits and sporting vintage trunks and towering platform sandals. 

Adding to the overall fun of the show was as Bugsy Malone style showgirls with inflatable bananas (a nod to Josephine Baker, one of Olympia’s ‘favourite pin up girls). With Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto playing a live show and a whole host of gold confetti the Charlotte Olympia show was definitely a tropical, fun way to end the third day of LFW.

BURBERRY

Ending London Fashion Week was Burberry in which the collection was inspired by Virgina Woolf’s ‘’Orlando.’’

Naturally the Burberry show had a star studded FROW including Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour,  model Cara Delevingne , actress Freida Pinto and style icon Alexa Chung.

The collection itself was exquisitely detailed and romantic featuring sharply tailored ladies braided jackets and mens velvet jackets as well as unisex ruffles.

Elizabethan vibes were mixed with a mesh of materials including paisley silk dressing gowns paired with lace dresses as well as a mesh of cashmere.

Orchestra to play out LFW

The juxtaposition of overly detailed garments for both men and women along with live orchestral music and a choir was the perfect send off to London and off to the next Fashion Week…. Milan.
